We are getting close to a year now enough time to judge how Rudd’s team has been managing Australia’s economy. Has he actually been able to keep his promises to all those people who voted him in? Probably the biggest promise was the inference that once in power interest rates would cease to rise and will even decrease. So far this has turned out to be a dud promise and banks have increased interest rates even above that set by the Reserve Bank. Where we can actually expect the Reserve Bank to set a decrease in the near future, it seems that banks will not be passing this on to the consumer.
Now let’s look at Rudd’s promise to supply access to a computer for every child in Years nine to 12. This is another promise that isn’t turning out at all well, and many schools will not be taking up the grant as they can’t afford to actually run extra computers. I wonder if they new this all along and were in fact counting on it or are they really that dumb not to take into account the running costs of all these extra computers.
Something else that Rudd led Australians to believe was that he could put downward pressure on grocery prices. This is another promise that seems to have fallen by the wayside. The long awaited ACCC inquiry into grocery prices seems to have turned into a joke as the ACCC Chairman Graeme Samuel seems to be actually struggling to identify that any problem actually exists. This is bullshit when you consider that we actually have a duopoly where the big two, Coles and Woolworths, actually control the grocery market. It isn’t all that hard to come to this conclusion when you realize that they actually control about 80% of the market and are continually trying to increase the margin even further. The Government should really put a stop to this. So, while the inquiry did show Rudd was doing something, in essence it was a total waste of time and money.
Then there was the inferred promise of cheaper fuel prices, well I think most people will agree that this just hasn’t happened. While Rudd can say that he cannot control world fuel prices, why make the inference at all? Was it to cast a smokescreen over those gullible Australians that wanted to believe in all his hype?
We also hear today of those companies who supply solar panels, having to lay off workers because of Rudd’s policy to have the $8000 grant to install solar panels to homes means tested. It seems that this has caused a whole heap of canceled orders and this from a new Government who expected Australia to lead the way in the green revolution.
I day say there are more broken promises out there, but I just do not have time to do an in depth research on the matter. Perhaps you may like to add to the list or even argue for Mr. Rudd’s benefit, but please do not use his gobbledygook.

There has been a bit of an uproar in the news today over another fight between two young girls that was filmed on a mobile phone. The film that was being distributed via the mobile phones was titled Chantel fights Jess. The fight culminated in one girl getting a broken jaw as well as a few missing teeth. The fight itself occurred last Wednesday on the Evanston railway platform and both girls attended Gawler High.
The fact that violence is occurring amongst school kids is no surprise as this has been happening for many years, way before the technology existed where the event could be filmed via mobile phones. What is surprising is that more and more girls are getting involved. The paper goes on to say that a spokeswoman for Jane Lomax-Smith, the Minister for Education, said how the matter would be referred to the ‘anti-bullying coalition which advises government and private schools to advise on the use of technology, including mobile phones, in violent incidents.’
I heard the Minister on Leon Byner’s 5AA talk back show and I must say that she was so full of bullshit it is unbelievable. You can hear the conversation here and all I can say is that Jane Lomax-Smith is way out of touch. We do in fact need a ‘knee jerk’ reaction and that girl has to pay for what she did. What should be done? It’s obvious that she is too young to go to jail but perhaps other methods can be brought into play. I have several recommendations.
- Home detention for a period of time as well as school detention.
- Psychological evaluation for both the girl and the parents.
- Anger management courses need to be attended
Whatever happens the last thing that is needed is another bloody committee looking into why these things occur. Perhaps if these things were dealt with swiftly and kids saw that there are consequences to such actions they will think twice before treading the path of violence.
To think that the Jane Lomax-Smith seriously believes that these incidents are on the rise because of mobile phones and kids watching ‘Funniest Home Show Video’ is in itself laughable and I would suggest she take action now rather than wait for the results of another stupid committee.
If you have an opinion on this subject, please leave a comment as I would really be interested in other peoples viewpoint.

The Olympics is always an extremely popular event and it is not unusual to expect that there will be people out there that will use this event to rip thousands of dollars off of the unexpected. I have just heard on the news that a FAKE website exists that is selling tickets to the Beijing Olympics. Whatever you do, do not buy any tickets from www.beijingticketing.com, because if you do you will find yourself out of pocket.
I have just had a look at the website and it is no wonder that it has conned so many people as it is one of the most professional scam sites I have ever seen. This online Olympics ticket seller has scammed Australian, New Zealand, US and European sports fans and travel agents out of tens of thousands of dollars. One agent alone got duped for $US57,000! Olympic officials are seeking a court injunction to shut the site down.
The scammers have obviously planned this for awhile as the domain was purchased on the 17th May 07 and has achieved a PR4 ranking and an Alexa ranking of 596,877! Good on ya Google for giving a bullshit site such a good rating and yet you penalize other sites just because they take on a few paid posts.
The site has a registered office at Suite 700, 2415 East Camelback Road, Phoenix Arizona but it turns out that office is empty. Once again, if you are hoping to buy tickets to the Beijing Olympics, DO NOT GO TO www.beijingticketing.com!!!!
A hot line has been st up for Aussies who believe they may be victims. The number is 1800 055 555
If anyone knows of any other scam sites that are selling fraudulent tickets it would be really nice if you left a comment.

If you happen to be passing through California you may well want to join the hundreds of other people who are drawn by the nightly appearance of an image of an angel. It can only be seen at night when viewed from across the street in front of the Express Mart. The owner of the Express Mart turned off the lights because he was getting pissed off with all the crowds but has now agreed to turn them back on. Could well have something to do with the death threats he was receiving.
Some say it is a miracle whilst others believe it is just an ordinary reflection but the owner of the store thinks it is more than just a reflection as ‘tagging’ and other forms of vandalism has stopped since its appearance.

This guy buys a secondhand Harley Davidson and comments on how the bike and the chrome in particular was in such good condition. He then asks how he has managed to keep it in such pristine condition, to which the owner replied that if he ever thought that it was about to rain he would rub Vaseline on the chrome to protect it from the rain.
The next night he rides over to his girlfriend’s house for dinner. Being the first time that he has gone over she meets him on the doorstep.
‘Hey Stud’ she whispers, ‘I gotta tell you something before you go in. ‘During dinner we don’t talk and anyone who says anything during dinner has to do the dishes.’
‘No problem’ he says as they go in.
He is shocked at the amount of unwashed dishes stacked everywhere. There are stacks in the living room, the family room and even on the stairs. Everywhere he looks he sees dirty dishes. As they sit down for dinner he notices that no-one was saying a word. As the dinner was progressing he thought that he may as well take advantage of the situation so he leans over and kisses his girlfriend. Not a word is said, so he decided to play with her breasts and still nothing. Taking the bull by the horns, he stands her up, strips her naked and has passionate sex with her leaning over the dinner table and still no-one says a word.
He looks over at the mother and thinking that she was looking pretty hot he decided to have his way with her as well and still nothing. He then notices a few raindrops hitting the tin roof and quickly whips out the jar of Vaseline so that he could take care of his new Harley, when suddenly the father stands up and shouts, ‘All right, all right! I’ll do the bloody dishes!’
