I received a similar sort of email a few months back, and later discovered it was a actually a few years old. Scumbags? Is that strong enough?

The Nigerians don't care about any of this stuff, Sire. All these people care about is money. Course, it's not only them. Last night on TV they showed this scam where a "company" in Buffalo was making calls to people about outstanding debt, even if it wasn't outstanding debt, telling them they were from the Maryland police department and had put out arrest warrants for these people unless they immediately sent payment to them via Western Union. They found the guy and the company, but law enforcement couldn't do anything about it for the time being. That's when the real shame comes in. I think this just goes to show how low these scumbags are. Your right that using the ploy of it being a military personnel that is putting their life in danger in really kinda sick. I would hope that by now most people would be aware of this type of scam and pay no attention to it. Yet, we hear all the time how people do fall for this.
